Park of Kria

Erkyna river comes from the southern part of Livadia and crosses the city center. The region of the sources of the river, known as Kria (=cold in Greek), is a park located at the exit of the gorge and is famous for its outstanding natural beauty. In the gorge there is an open theater with good acoustics and a cobblestoned path for hiking.

The park of Kria, which is the main place of recreation for the locals, is a region of unique beauty with ancient trees and other forms of vegetation, abundant water and many small waterfalls. In the park you will also find the Municipal cafe "Xenia". Legend has it that the oracle of Zeus Trophonius is located there, too.

West of Krya, on the steep hills, you can find the Medieval Castle of Livadia. In the area you can also see traditional industrial buildings from the first period of the city’s industrial development (19th and early 20th century). Along Erkyna River there are many arched stone bridges of remarkable aesthetic value, going back to the times of the Turkish occupation to the beginning of the century.
